D 373 During the years 1842-3,44-5 was Acquainted with Joseph Thornton and had good opportunities of forming an opinion of him. He was a regular and diligent attendant at the Sunday and Parochial schools of Conplord and merited the approbation of Brookes, Brydges and others, for his ability, general propriety of Conduct and very creditable Attainments in Scriptural and Secular knowledge.
From having thus had former knowledge of his character, disposition, Conduct and attainments, I would recommend him as a Young Man of Excellent promise, both capable and willing to discharge Satisfactorily and Efficiently the duties of Any Suitable situation in which he might be placed.
I felt and still feel a great interest in his success and shall be glad to hear of it.
